On our way to meet the cast and crew of the RV Nomads movie we stopped for 2 nights at Kemo Sabay Campground. Which is located in Hot Springs, SD. We really enjoyed this campground! It did not have the usual campground feel! It sits on over 100 acres of land! We saw horses and cows grazing the grass every day which was neat to have in our “backyard.”
The location is very central and close to many attractions! We had the chance to check out the historic downtown of Hot Springs and man is it a cute town! The kids enjoyed checking out the jail from 1888 they have right on the main strip and a waterfall in the middle of the strip! The architecture is super neat to see as well.
They have conserved most of the buildings such as the movie theatre, city hall, Evans hotel and the Vault just to name a few. We will come back to check out the Mammoth and Evans Plunge! We had the opportunity to visit Mt Rushmore which was only an hour drive. It was a very beautiful and scenic drive through Wind Cave National Park!!!
The owner of the campground is super nice and she shared that her husband had built this campground 25 years ago which was really neat to learn! For the locals Kemo Sabay also has a storage area available if you are in need of a storage unit.
This campground has showers and restrooms available too. If you are passing by you can use the dump station for a nominal fee or take a shower for a small fee too. Some of the sites have full hookups and some have partial. We HIGHLY recommend staying here for at least a week to explore the whole area! Check out the video we did showing you a little more:
